  International and Interdisciplinary cooperation

The major issue today is the recognition of CME accreditation between countries and across medical specialities. EBAC hopes to contribute to this harmonisation and to activate greater participation in international meetings, facilitate the sharing of knowledge and promote better clinical practice within cardiology.

  Cooperation with the EACCME

EBAC has established an official link with the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME).

UEMS established the European Accreditation Council for CME (EACCME) on January 1st, 2000 to provide an accepted accreditation system for international CME events, recognised by all European National authorities. It is presently finalising mutual recognition of CME accreditation with North America, and in future aims to reach similar agreements with other CME authorities throughout the world.

Yet, EACCME has delegated accreditation authority to the Speciality Boards such as EBAC.
EBAC will supply EACCME with a list of EBAC accredited events.

  EBAC and National CME Authorities

EBAC underlines the importance of international CME activities, as they are one of the most important sources of update for practicing cardiologists.
In order to fulfil its mission to promote and facilitate access to quality international CME programmes in cardiology, EBAC wishes, and will do as much as possible, to establish and maintain cooperation with National Accreditation Authorities.

EBAC hopes the mutual relations will develop the best way possible, for the benefit of cardiologists and their patients. As EBAC accreditation concerns only international CME programmes in cardiology, it is not competitive, but complementary to the competence and activities of National Accreditation Authorities.

Contributing to the harmonization process within/among the CME systems in Europe, EBAC will be pleased to propose its advice and assistance in the establishment of CME accreditation systems to countries that do not have any till now.
